StepUP: the new e-learning platform for sustainable production debuts at Berlinale 2025

EcoMuvi, in collaboration with Ecoprod and Eurimages, proudly announces the launch of StepUP, an innovative e-learning platform and international toolkit dedicated to promoting sustainable production practices in the film industry.

This project stems from a Eurimages initiative and has been developed by the non-profit association Ecoprod, with the support of EcoMuvi and other European experts.

After months of development and collaboration with numerous international partners, including EcoMuvi, we are finally ready to unveil the outcome of this journey: StepUP will be officially presented on February 14th, 2025, at the European Film Market (EFM), Producers Hub.

StepUP addresses the growing need for accessible, standardized training on sustainable production by offering e-learning courses designed to bridge the gap in the availability of such resources across different countries. The platform provides a structured learning experience, covering the principles of sustainable production and offering practical tools, from understanding international regulations to implementing sustainable workflows. Interactive elements such as quizzes, exercises, and case studies enhance the learning process.

With a flexible approach designed for various professional roles, StepUP equips producers, film commissioners, and on-set staff with essential knowledge and tools to integrate sustainable practices into their productions. The platform is accessible to all film professionals, regardless of their level of expertise.

Beyond being a training tool, StepUP aims to raise awareness about the environmental impact of film production by providing centralized access to reliable resources, a mapping of sustainability initiatives, and clear guidance on regulations. The goal is to elevate sustainability standards across the global audiovisual industry.

The Berlinale launch event will offer industry professionals the opportunity to explore the platform and its crucial role in advancing sustainable filmmaking. Environmental experts and producers will share their experiences in implementing sustainability measures for international co-productions, providing valuable insights to kickstart the journey toward sustainable filmmaking.
